Chloe Elliot

Why do you volunteer for PDXWIT? -I volunteer for PDXWIT because I want the opportunity to help make the path more clear for the next generation of women coming into the space.  I just want to do my small part and donate whatever abilities I have to be a part evolving a solution.

What is your day job or another passion of yours (besides PDXWIT) -I currently work at Jama Software as the Community Programs Manager in Customer Success. I get to involve myself inter-departmentally by making relationships and looking for connections in processes and communication streams using my online platform. I plant a lot of intellectual seeds to try to get to mutual consensus between several different audiences. At the same time, I am working directly with our customers; problem solving and getting the information they graciously share with me to the right internal stakeholders. I love working directly with customers, they are the life-blood to any company.

I have found that I am passionate about most any activity which manifests a product. That product could be anything from a new process, a snippet of code or script to automate something, a useful document or resource to sewing a baby quilt, designing a new knitting pattern, or growing a garden. It all brings me joy.

What has been your favorite PDXWIT project, initiative or even you have participated in as a volunteer? Why? That’s easy, the new blog resource: Dear Witty is my first big PDXWIT blog product and process I have launched. I saw the need for this through a mixture of personal stories as well as looking through the PDXWIT Slack Vent channel. I wanted to create a way to allow people to safely and anonymously tell their stories and get advice, without fear of retaliation or judgement. And I love that the PDXWIT Community saw the value add and immediately went to work to support this effort, now turned reality. Next, we are working on Hot Tech Tip – a resource to help us navigate the “logistics” in the Tech space.

What is something people may not know about you? That I am both an introvert and extrovert. I thrive when I can be alone in my thoughts but, I need the hive-mind to feed those thoughts. My whole life my logical side is in constant battle with my creative side. It all seems to come out fine in the end, so I have learned to trust my intuitions.
