Meet Lacie Beck

How did you learn about PDXWIT and what keeps you coming back? 

When I started at Cambia in 2017, one of my goals was to seek out partnerships with the local tech community.  I found PDXWIT while researching potential organizations we could partner with.

Can you give us some background on your career in tech? Did you intend this career path?

My background is in meeting and event planning, and my current role as Technical Sponsorships & Events Program Manager supports the various tech teams across Cambia. Prior to Cambia I did not work in the tech industry so I am definitely learning as I go.

What is a travel experience or a change in fortune that impacted your life?

I lived in the Midwest my entire life up until 2016 when a job opportunity for my husband brought us to Portland.  We moved here knowing no one, I had never even visited the Pacific Northwest before. It was a huge adjustment, especially with two kids, however we grew much closer as a family and met so many amazing people. I am fortunate that my position with Cambia has allowed me to work remotely as it allows for amazing work life balance. 

One of the things that attracted me to Cambia was the Cambia Cause - serving as a catalyst to transform health care, creating a person-focused and economically sustainable health care system. People are at the heart of the Cause, and people, as a whole, are diverse and complex.  You can’t create something that is person-focused without having a variety of people involved in the creation. That is why I am passionate about ensuring that Cambia is known as a technology employer of choice, particularly among organizations like PDXWIT that have a focus on inclusion and belonging.
