Ambassador Board Job Description

A PDXWIT Ambassador is someone who increases awareness of and advocates for PDXWIT interests within the Portland tech community by leveraging their influence and network to provide the organization with access to resources, opportunities, and funding. An ambassador enthusiastically engages at PDXWIT events and with program participants.

Ambassadors are company, community, or thought leaders in Portland, Oregon and are typically executives or founders of their organization. These individuals are best able to impact the environment around them to inspire further advocacy.

Someone who is a PDXWIT Ambassador will:

  • Be an outspoken advocate and storyteller of PDXWIT’s vision, purpose, and programs.

  • Respond to calls to actions provided by the Board, not to exceed once per quarter.

  • Provide guidance upon request from a member of the Board, not to exceed once per quarter.

  • Support fundraising activities by attending a minimum of 4 events annually and promoting PDXWIT sponsorship opportunities to their community friends and colleagues.

  • Serve a one-year term, which can be renewed annually without term limits, subject to board approval.

  • Nominate one person for the PDXWIT Ambassador program to succeed their role once determined that the term will not be renewed. Nominations must be received at least one quarter prior to the close of the term. The board will review nominees prior to acceptance.

Through their participation in the program, Ambassadors will receive:

  • Meet and greet luncheon with all PDXWIT Ambassadors.

  • Regular communication on issues of importance to PDXWIT.

  • Advanced notice of fundraising and outreach events.

  • Ambassador name and story featured on PDXWIT website.

  • PDXWIT swag.
